Weekly Reflection #1
Okay... I cannot believe that we have already been on senior project for a week... it feels like a few short days have passed by. Let me just start off by saying how much I have learned in this small week not only about myself but about the world around me. In this first week, lucy and I have grown even closer than I ever thought we could. In addition to this, I have learned more about rock climbing as a sport than before which is just growing my love for it.
This week I learned how to lead climb and all about how to put up signs respectfully and carefully paying attention to specific details like what trees to nail the sign into, how to nail the signs into trees, and how far to insert the nail into a tree! With all of this new knowlege I have been able to do things I never thought I would do with Lucy.
Not only do I like doing what Lucy and I are doing but I think I have fallen in love with our senior project. I get to wake up every morning with Lucy and start our day off with breakfast together at all times. Then we get ready for what adventure we have to concour. I love the project we chose to to and hopefully I contunue to enjoy it in this last weeka nd ahalf of it.
When talking about expectations, I would say that it is definitly more challenging than we thought to get in the right mindset to say :"hey lets go put up some signs today" especially with both Lucy and I. We both have atheltic commitments that cause us to double think our days and make sure that we don't go too hard on hiking so we are absolutly tired by the end of the day. I hope that in the upcoming weeks hiking gets to be a little easier for us. I didn't expect us to be so busy every day nor did I think that we would be so inclined to rock climb so often!
In this upcoming week we will be focusing more on hiking the woodlands. We have looked at the trail map and planned out some possible routs to hike on to get maximum coverage. This week is a week full of signage. We are going to attempt top hike all day until Lucy has to depart to head to tennis and I have to depart to head to play practice. It will be exhausting and It will be hard. Especially reguarding the heat that is going to destroy us this week. But with multiple water bottles, plenty of food, and some music we will do it all.
There are many things that Lucy and I do that will imact our ability to get our project done. From waking up at an earlier hour of the day to get in the woods before teh heat to planning ahead our days so there is no confusion about what needs to get done. I look forward to these last couple of weeks here at proctor and I am so glad that I am able to do senior project as a whole but even more happy that I get to do it with one of my best friends.
